Award for “14 - Diaries of the Great War”

A LOOKSfilm production receives the Grand Prix from the 12th International Documentary Film Festival in Sevastopol.

Award for 14 – Diaries of the Great War: the documentary drama series from LOOKS Film & TV Produktionen has been awarded the Grand Prix by the 12th International Documentary Film Festival in Sevastopol. "14 is a series about the horrors of war and the desire for peace. For me, accepting the Sevastopol Grand Prix for 14 is a symbol of our shared desire for that peace", Gunnar Dedio, the producer of the series, said last evening at the award ceremony in Moscow.

In 8 x 52 minute episodes the series tells the story of the First World War from the perspective of those who lived through it. 14 – Diaries of the Great War is based on the diaries and letters of contemporary witnesses: men and women, adults and children, Austrians, Germans, Italians, Russians, French, Britons and Australians.

The series was directed by Jan Peter, who also wrote the script together with Yury Winterberg. It was produced by LOOKS Film & TV Produktionen GmbH and Les Films d'Ici and has been aired in more than 40 countries. 14 – Diaries of the Great War has received numerous awards, including the Platinum Remi Award from the Houston International Film Festival in the category "TV Series – Documentary", and the special award from the jury of the Robert Geisendörfer Prize.

The internationally and critically acclaimed series is now set to continue: Clash of Futures – 18 explores the dramatic era of the 1920s and '30s. In it, LOOKS and its partners are remaining true to the concept of the transnational and multi-perspective narrative. Clash of Futures – 18 is written by Jan Peter (showrunner), Frédéric Goupil (co-author and director), known for the series The Returned, and Camilla Ahlgren (co-author), script writer on The Bridge, among other work. The series is an international co-production of LOOKSfilm (Gunnar Dedio) in Leipzig and Les Films d’Ici (Serge Lalou) in Paris on behalf of ARD/ARTE Deutschland, ARTE France and ARTE G.E.I.E. in cooperation with YLE (Finland) as well as international partners such as ORF, SVT and DR. Other co-producers include IRIS Productions Luxembourg and Fortis Imaginatio. The lead broadcaster within ARD is SWR.
